The collective Les Morts de la Rue released a report documenting at least 927 deaths among homeless individuals in France during 2025. This figure is slightly lower than the 938 deaths recorded in 2024, though the collective warns this represents a “documented floor” rather than a true decline due to data collection limitations.

The report identifies a significant demographic gap, noting the average age of those who died was 49, compared to approximately 79.5 years for the general population. It also highlights an increasing feminization of extreme poverty, with women accounting for 14% of deaths in 2025. Additionally, the report recorded the deaths of 20 children under the age of 15.

Regarding causes of death, two-thirds of the victims had an unknown cause of death. In identified cases, violent deaths such as homicides, drownings, and suicides were prevalent, especially among those aged 15 to 25. Deaths attributed to cold weather reached their highest level since 2012. The collective continues to work on establishing the identities of the deceased to ensure they do not pass away anonymously.
