Homicide-suicide in Montgomery Township, New Jersey

Authorities in Montgomery Township, New Jersey, are investigating an apparent homicide-suicide involving three people found dead in a residence on Wild Azalea Lane in the Skillman section of Somerset County.

Police initially responded to the home for a wellness check on a Thursday afternoon but were unable to enter. Upon returning to the residence on Friday evening, officers discovered the bodies of two women in separate bedrooms, both of whom appeared to have been shot. A man was also found dead near a firearm, with evidence suggesting a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Subsequent investigations identified the victims as David Grodnick, 61; his wife, Lora Grodnick, 62; and their daughter, Sloane Caroline Grodnick, 24. Medical examiners classified the deaths of Lora and Sloane as homicides caused by fatal gunshot wounds to the head, while David Grodnick’s death was ruled a suicide. Investigators from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Montgomery Police Department stated that the event appears to be an “isolated incident” and noted there is no ongoing threat to the community.
