Honda Ridgeline third‑gen development

Honda Motor Co. confirmed that a third‑generation Ridgeline midsize pickup is under development for the U.S. market. Design work is taking place at the company’s Southern California studio, with engineering support from the Honda Auto Development Center in Ohio. Production of the current Ridgeline is slated to cease by the end of 2026, creating a transition period before the new model begins assembly at the existing Alabama plant.

The upcoming model is expected to launch within two years, likely as a 2029 model year, and will feature a more rugged, boxier appearance inspired by the latest Passport SUV. Honda indicated the powertrain will incorporate a new V6 that may include up to three electric motors, promising over 10 % faster acceleration and more than 30 % better fuel economy compared with the outgoing 3.5‑liter V6, while retaining the Ridgeline’s unique self‑supporting body construction.
