Honduran aircraft wreckage recovery operation
Overview
The Honduran Naval Force has initiated an operation to recover wreckage from a LANHSA Jetstream 3200 aircraft located on the seabed off the coast of Roatán, Bay Islands.
The mission follows the crash of flight LNH-018 on March 17, 2025, which occurred shortly after takeoff from Juan Manuel Gálvez Airport. The accident resulted in 12 fatalities out of 17 people on board, including musician Aurelio Martínez.
Scheduled to continue until September 7, the recovery effort aims to retrieve technical components, such as engines, propellers, and the cockpit voice recorder. These items are considered critical for the ongoing investigation to clarify the circumstances of the crash, as a provisional report from the CIAIA has not yet established a definitive cause.
