In early July 2026, investigators uncovered a fake clone of the DatoWorld survey platform that had been used to manipulate Honduran election polling data. The exposure highlighted a targeted effort to distort public opinion through fabricated survey results.

Later in July, a comprehensive monitoring report from Honduras Verifica documented a broader wave of misinformation across the country’s political sphere. Between January and June 2026, 413 false or misleading social‑media posts were identified, with 59 % of the 103 political statements examined classified as false or misleading. The report traced the disinformation to 201 distinct sources, noting that a small number of accounts, particularly NoticiasDigitalHN, were responsible for a disproportionate share of the false content. Researchers warned that the increasing use of artificial intelligence to generate and spread false narratives was further eroding democratic resilience.
