Honduras-Spain agricultural labor migration program

Overview

Honduran Ambassador to Spain, Ana Paola Hall, announced plans to expand labor migration programs between Honduras and Spain. Building on an existing group of approximately 1,000 Honduran citizens working in Spanish agriculture, the initiative aims to facilitate the travel of an additional 2,000 to 3,000 citizens for temporary work opportunities scheduled for early 2027.

Following this announcement, a pre-enrollment process for temporary agricultural work visas was launched in Olanchito. This collaborative effort involving the Honduran Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Association of Municipalities of Honduras, and the Municipality of Olanchito seeks to provide six-month contracts. Selected workers may earn approximately 1,500 euros monthly with free accommodation. Eligibility is restricted to Honduran citizens aged 21 to 45 with no criminal or migratory records, though officials noted that pre-enrollment does not guarantee employment or a visa.
