Hong Kong AI and robotics infrastructure development

Overview

Hong Kong has initiated several new infrastructure projects aimed at advancing artificial intelligence and robotics technology.

In September 2026, Avnet and The University of Hong Kong established the Emerging Microelectronics and Ubiquitous Systems Lab (EMUS Lab) at the Tseung Kwan O InnoPark. The lab focuses on accelerating the commercialization of AI hardware, specifically targeting edge AI, physical AI, robotics, and high-performance computing to bridge academic research and industrial application.

Following this, in October 2026, the Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre (FLAIR) launched the Embodied AI International Applications Hub. As the city’s first platform dedicated to humanoid robotics and embodied AI, the Hub provides infrastructure for training, validating, and deploying these technologies in real-world industrial scenarios.
