Housing development and acquisition in Uruguay

Overview

In Uruguay, the Maldonado Departmental Government has announced plans to prioritize land acquisition to support future housing development and cooperatives. Director General Alejandro Lussich indicated that budget adjustments scheduled for 2027 through 2030 will fund these purchases. The administration also intends to implement a rental subsidy pilot program for single-parent households and conduct a land lottery in 2028 following infrastructure improvements.

Expanding on national housing efforts, the Agencia Nacional de Vivienda (ANV) has issued a call for the purchase of various properties. This includes 36 refurbished homes across several departments, including Artigas, Canelones, Maldonado, Montevideo, Paysandú, Salto, Tacuarembó, and Treinta y Tres, as well as land in Paso de los Toros and commercial space in Montevideo.
