Huawei MatePad Pro 12 and MatePad Air releases

Huawei has introduced new tablet models, specifically the MatePad Pro 12 and the MatePad Air, with an emphasis on professional productivity and advanced display technology.

The MatePad Pro 12 features a 12-inch flexible OLED PaperMatte screen designed to reduce reflections and glare by 30% compared to previous models. It includes a 3K resolution, 1,600 nits peak brightness, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The device is 4.7 mm thick and includes a 9,760 mAh battery with 40W reverse charging capabilities. It is designed for use with the HUAWEI Glide keyboard and the M-Pencil Pro.

The MatePad Air also utilizes a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display and has a thickness of 5.3 mm. It runs on HarmonyOS 4.3, offers 256 GB of storage, and is available in configurations with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. The tablet features a 10,100 mAh battery supporting 66W SuperCharge Turbo and a six-speaker audio system.

Recent reviews of the MatePad Air (2026) highlight that its OLED display quality “significantly outperforms competitors like the iPad Air.” However, the device faces certain limitations, including a lack of native access to the Google Play Store and the absence of a desktop mode similar to Samsung DeX. It also lacks secure biometric unlocking methods such as a fingerprint sensor or 3D face unlock. While the Kirin chipset provides solid everyday performance, it reportedly lags in graphics capabilities compared to competitors. The tablet is available in silver, pink, and light blue, with pricing starting at approximately 799 Euro or £699.99, which includes a stylus.
