Hugo Pratt centenary commemorations in Italy

Overview

Events honoring the upcoming centenary of comic-book creator Hugo Pratt have been announced in Italy.

The Venice Biennale scheduled an out-of-competition screening of the documentary ‘Il desiderio di essere inutile – Hugo a Venezia’ for September 12. Directed by Stefano Knuchel, the film concludes a trilogy exploring Pratt’s artistic imagination and travels through archival footage and exclusive recordings.

Additionally, the ‘Linee in movimento’ (Lines in Motion) cultural project launched in Rimini. Held at the Rimini Fair from August 21 to 26, the exhibition features Pratt’s illustrations alongside photography and text to explore Italian landscapes and collective memory. The exhibition includes a three-meter-tall statue of Pratt’s character, Corto Maltese.
