Human trafficking investigations in Vietnam

Overview

Authorities in Vietnam have launched investigations and prosecutions regarding human trafficking rings involving minors in the karaoke industry.

In Hung Yen Province, police prosecuted six individuals for the repeated buying and selling of two female karaoke employees, including minors born in 2010 and 2011. The suspects reportedly used Facebook groups to recruit and trade victims across multiple provinces, including Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Phu Tho.

Concurrently, in Phu Tho Province, police initiated a criminal investigation into a scheme where managers of different karaoke establishments conspired to transfer a girl under the age of 16 and another woman between facilities for work. Three suspects, including Pham Minh Duc and Luu Duc Ngoc, have been identified as part of the ongoing investigation.
