Humanoid robot manufacturing in Serbia

A new humanoid robot mass-production facility has opened in Šabac, Serbia, through a joint venture between Chinese companies Minth Group and AgiBot. The project represents the first European structure for the mass production of Chinese-designed humanoid robots.

Initial operations involve an investment of approximately €20 million in a 3,000-square-meter facility focused on assembling humanoid robots and robotic dogs, alongside the calibration of motion and vision systems. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić attended the opening, where robots demonstrated tasks such as playing chess and performing calligraphy.

The project aims for long-term expansion into a broader robotics industrial park with a total investment of roughly €200 million. While current production targets are set at over 5,000 units annually, the facility eventually aims to reach a capacity of up to 20,000 units per year. The product line is expected to include humanoid robots, quadruped robots, and unmanned aerial vehicles, targeting industrial, healthcare, and agricultural sectors. The establishment of the plant occurs alongside international discussions regarding the security implications of foreign-made advanced robotics, specifically concerning data collection and surveillance.
