Hungarian railway maintenance and infrastructure updates

Overview

Hungarian railway operator MÁV has implemented several service changes and infrastructure updates across the country.

In late July, maintenance on the Püspökladány–Biharkeresztes line necessitated the use of replacement buses between Biharkeresztes and Berettyóújfalu. During this period, nighttime and early-morning services on the entire route were also transitioned to bus transport.

By mid-August, further disruptions were announced due to track maintenance between Veszprém and Ajka, affecting long-distance routes such as the Citadella InterCity and the Göcsej InterCity. Concurrently, full service resumed on the H6 HÉV line to Ráckeve following the renovation of the Mű út level crossing, which improved vehicle speed limits from 30 km/h to 60 km/h.
