Hydrogen technology commercial development
Overview
The hydrogen technology sector is seeing increased commercial activity through strategic partnerships and pilot projects. The Hazer-KBR Alliance has initiated a binding agreement with a Japanese power utility to conduct a prefeasibility study on methane pyrolysis technology, aiming to evaluate hydrogen production capacities between 30,000 and 300,000 tonnes per annum.
Simultaneously, H-Power (formerly AFC Energy) is moving into a 2 million USD demonstration phase with Komatsu Ltd. to couple ammonia-cracking technology with industrial diesel engines. H-Power has also expanded its commercial footprint by securing orders for hydrogen fuel cell generators in the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia, and has completed its first commercial sale of green hydrogen in the United Kingdom.
