Hydrogeological risk mitigation in Cori

The municipality of Cori has approved two separate technical-economic feasibility projects aimed at reducing hydrogeological risk, both funded by the Italian Ministry of the Interior.

The first project, valued at 880,000 euros, focuses on securing the perimeter wall of the historic Santa Maria della Pietà church. The plan involves structural consolidation using reinforced concrete micropiles and steel tie rods to address geotechnical issues that have impacted traffic between Piazza Mattei and Piazza Santa Maria della Pietà. The intervention also includes the restoration of historical wall surfaces and urban improvements like new cobblestone paving.

A second project, valued at 840,000 euros, targets landslide prevention and soil instability near Via Giovanni Ricci and Via dei Chiavoni. Proposed works include constructing a reinforced concrete retaining wall on piles, installing gabions, and revising the sewage system for rainwater disposal. This project also includes widening sections of Via dei Chiavoni and resurfacing roads damaged by ground movement.
