Overview

Two U.S. citizen teenagers were reportedly pepper-sprayed, beaten, and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Alamo, Texas. The incident occurred near Santos Livas Elementary School while the youths were allegedly filming an ICE operation involving the arrest of their parents.

One of the teenagers, 17-year-old Luis Ochoa, claimed he informed agents of his citizenship, but was allegedly told, “I don’t give a damn. … Your parents can’t help you now.” Video footage circulating online appears to show federal agents using pepper spray and an agent punching one teenager in the face while he was on the ground. The teenagers were reportedly held in custody for approximately eight hours before being released. Following the encounter, Ochoa expressed hesitation regarding his previous intention to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.
