III Gala del Comercio del Bierzo in Ponferrada

Overview

The III Gala del Comercio del Bierzo is being held in Ponferrada to recognize the contributions of the local commercial sector. Organized by the Ponferrada City Council and the El Centro Mola merchants' association, the event features 16 awards.

Early announcements identified the Banda de Música Ciudad de Ponferrada as the recipient of the 2026 Culture and Arts Award, and the Ponferrada Delegation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) as the recipient of the Institution, Association, or Social Action Award. The ceremony includes musical performances by Marta Sánchez and entertainment such as aerial acrobatics.

During the event, Iván Rodríguez, president of El Centro Mola, addressed the challenges facing traditional retail from e-commerce and large supermarkets. He advocated for local shops to compete by focusing on “personalized interpersonal service” and urged the sector to adapt with “energy and proactivity rather than nostalgia.”
