Immigration enforcement in Catanzaro

Overview

Authorities in the province of Catanzaro, Italy, have taken actions to deport irregular foreign nationals with criminal histories.

In late August, police identified an individual with extensive convictions—including robbery, drug trafficking, and extortion—and ordered his transfer to the Caltanissetta Repatriation Center (CPR) to facilitate expulsion.

By early September, a separate enforcement action occurred in Soverato. Following a routine check, a foreign national who was already subject to an expulsion decree by the Prefect of Catanzaro was escorted to Fiumicino Airport for repatriation. This individual, who had a record involving theft and land invasion, received a three-year ban on re-entering the country.
