Incheon elderly and community care expansion

Incheon is expanding its elderly and medical welfare infrastructure through new facilities and community care networks.

In late August 2026, Incheon Metropolitan City established a management agreement with the Human Welfare Association to operate the Incheon Municipal Dementia Nursing Home in Gyeyang-gu. The facility features specialized dementia-dedicated rooms and a ‘unit-type’ spatial structure designed to mimic a home environment. The five-year management agreement aims to combine public infrastructure with private expertise to provide professional services and reduce caregiving burdens on families.

Concurrently, local districts are broadening integrated community care systems to support residents after hospital discharge. In Yeongjong-gu, the district office signed agreements with five new providers to offer services such as home-visit exercise and mobile bathing. In Geomdan-gu, the medical cooperation network grew to include nine partner institutions, including Geomdan Top Hospital and Onnuri Hospital. These initiatives are intended to create a seamless medical-welfare model that prevents care gaps for the elderly and disabled.
