India bomb threat hoaxes

In early July 2026, Indian authorities dealt with a hoax bomb‑threat email sent to the Indian Space Research Organisation’s headquarters in Bengaluru. Police traced the message to an unemployed suspect in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, arrested him and seized the device used to compose the threat. A second threat email later emerged, attributed to a different individual and also under investigation.

Later in the month, a false bomb‑threat call was placed to emergency services about Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. Security forces conducted a full sweep of the airport and found no explosives. The call was traced to a man in Kanpur, who was detained and questioned. Both incidents illustrate a pattern of hoax bomb threats across different Indian locations, prompting rapid police responses and ongoing investigations.

Authorities continue forensic analysis of seized devices and are probing motives behind the threats.
