India food and beverage industry expansion

India’s food and beverage sector is undergoing a significant expansion, with the food processing industry projected to reach a US$600 billion opportunity by 2030. This growth is fueled by increasing consumer demand for healthy, plant-based, and functional nutrition products, as well as advancements in automation and sustainable packaging. Government initiatives, such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, are also supporting this development.

To facilitate this industrial growth, major trade events are scheduled for late 2026. Informa Markets in India will host the 20th edition of Fi India and the 8th edition of ProPak India in Mumbai from August 26–28, 2026, featuring hundreds of exhibitors and brands focused on food ingredients and processing technologies. Additionally, the Global Potato Summit is set for December 2026 in Gujarat to improve value chain efficiency for potato cultivation and processing.

Private sector firms are also working to bridge technical gaps in the ecosystem. Companies like Core De Industries are providing integrated services, including formulation and manufacturing scale-up, to assist brands in transitioning from laboratory concepts to commercial production.
