India has provided significant medical aid to both Bolivia and Afghanistan to support public healthcare capacities.
In Bolivia, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs dispatched eight metric tonnes of essential medicines to bolster the nation’s healthcare system. This assistance, described as “extending a helping hand to a Global South partner,” was formally handed over at El Alto Airport by Ambassador Rohit Vadhwana to Bolivian officials. This follows a previous donation of vaccines in July of the prior year.
In Afghanistan, India delivered a shipment of medicines and medical consumables to a government hospital in Kabul. This initiative is part of an ongoing humanitarian effort that includes previous deliveries of food, tents for flood relief, and five tonnes of essential medicines earlier in the year. The Ministry of External Affairs stated these actions aim to “augment Afghanistan’s healthcare and reaffirms an enduring health partnership with the Afghan people.”
