Indian automotive industry price increases
Overview
Indian automakers are implementing or considering price increases for various vehicle segments to offset rising commodity prices and input costs.
Tata Motors announced a price hike of up to 1 per cent for its commercial vehicle range, effective October 1, 2026. This follows previous increases in both the commercial and passenger vehicle segments earlier in the year. Other regional manufacturers, such as Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India, have also recently adjusted prices due to rising logistics and supply-chain costs.
In response to ongoing margin pressures, Mahindra & Mahindra is evaluating potential price hikes across its SUV portfolio. Tata Motors is also reviewing opportunities for progressive, incremental price increases to manage costs without negatively impacting consumer demand.
