Indian naval intelligence espionage investigations

Overview

Indian authorities have arrested individuals in connection with separate allegations of leaking sensitive maritime intelligence.

In early October 2026, the Andhra Pradesh Counter Intelligence Cell arrested Indian Navy sailor Pradeep Mukherjee in Coimbatore. Investigators allege Mukherjee was targeted via a ‘honey-trap’ after a female Pakistani intelligence agent established an online relationship with him through social media. He is accused of providing classified information regarding strategic naval assets and fleet movements at the Visakhapatnam base.

In mid-October 2026, authorities in Visakhapatnam arrested Kadari Srinivas at a Delhi airport. Srinivas, who had been residing in Saudi Arabia, is accused of working with another individual to share details concerning the movement of naval vessels and submarines. The group allegedly shared this information with a woman using the alias ‘Angel Payal’ on Facebook, who reportedly claimed to represent a Dubai-based shipping logistics company and provided payment for the data.
