Indian police operations against theft and robbery

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in India have conducted several operations targeting organized theft and robbery syndicates.

In Madhya Pradesh, Dewas police executed ‘Operation Trinetram’ to dismantle an interstate gang responsible for mobile phone thefts across 22 districts and five states. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of approximately 400 mobile phones valued at 1.5 crore rupees, alongside 6 lakh rupees in cash. Investigators believe the gang targeted crowded areas and funneled stolen devices through Indore for resale, with suspicions that some items may have been smuggled abroad.

In Delhi, police resolved multiple criminal investigations involving armed robbery and organized crime. This included the arrest of six individuals linked to a daylight robbery of Rs 44 lakh, leading to the recovery of Rs 26.41 lakh and a weapon. Separate arrests were made involving habitual snatchers in South-East Delhi and an individual apprehended for stealing a foreign national’s bag containing significant amounts of US and Indian currency.
