Indian travel-tech sector financial performance

Indian travel-technology companies reported varying financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, with performance largely influenced by geopolitical instability in West Asia.

MakeMyTrip experienced a 65% year-over-year decline in net profit, falling to $9.1 million, despite a 6% increase in revenue. The company cited macroeconomic headwinds, including the West Asia conflict affecting outbound international travel, currency depreciation, and rising fuel and finance costs. However, domestic leisure demand remained strong, contributing to a 19.9% growth in gross bookings.

Other industry players showed mixed outcomes. Yatra Online saw a 16.3% increase in gross bookings, but its operational revenue declined by approximately 10%. The company noted that West Asian conflict disruptions to air connectivity and increased fares negatively impacted its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) segment. Conversely, EaseMyTrip reported growth in both gross booking revenue and operational revenue, noting that its Dubai operations grew by 45.2% despite regional challenges.
