IndiGo flight emergency diversions in India

Overview

In mid-September 2026, two separate IndiGo flights in India required emergency diversions due to safety concerns.

On September 10, flight 6E097, traveling from Lucknow to Dammam, was diverted to Ahmedabad after a crew member found a piece of paper with the word ‘bomb’ written on it. All 133 passengers and crew were safely evacuated. While security agencies reported no suspicious objects were found, investigations continued. This followed a similar hoax threat involving an Air India Express flight in late August.

On September 15, flight 6E6504, traveling from Agartala to Delhi, was diverted to Lucknow after a smoke warning was detected in the cargo area. The aircraft landed safely, and although initial inspections found no evidence of actual smoke or fire, technical teams launched an investigation into the cause of the warning.
