Individual deaths in residential swimming pools

Overview

Separate incidents involving women found dead in private swimming pools have been reported in Estoril, Portugal, and Erba, Italy.

In Estoril, a 51-year-old woman was discovered in a residential pool on Avenida General Carmona. The Public Security Police secured the scene, and the case was transferred to the Judicial Police and the Public Ministry to investigate whether the death was accidental or involved third-party intervention.

In Erba, a 64-year-old woman with a disability was found dead in her villa’s pool by her 76-year-old former husband. A wheelchair was located by the poolside. While the Carabinieri noted no obvious signs of violence, the Como Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation and ordered an autopsy. The property has been seized as part of the inquiry.
