Overview

In early July, local governments in East Java were highlighted for their transparent anti‑corruption practices. By early August, the effort expanded nationally as Jakarta convened statistics agencies, academics, research institutes and civil‑society groups to draft the Indonesia Democracy Index for 2026, targeting a higher score after a recent ranking decline.
