Indonesia integrated school program rollout

In late July 2026, West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah inaugurated the Integrated People's School in Dharmasraya, marking the start of the 2026/27 academic year for the national Sekolah Rakyat program that offers free boarding and basic needs to children from poor families. The launch emphasized education as a tool to break inter‑generational poverty.

The following day, the Indonesian government announced further expansion of the model to Batam and Cirebon. In Batam, a new 18.5‑hectare campus will combine elementary, middle and high school levels under one roof, while Cirebon’s first integrated school will admit 540 students from surrounding districts. Both sites feature dormitories, laboratories, a mosque and full utilities, reflecting President Prabowo Subianto’s anti‑poverty strategy to build a globally competitive generation.

Together, the snapshots illustrate the rapid rollout of free, fully equipped schools across multiple provinces as part of Indonesia’s broader effort to reduce poverty and develop human capital for its “Golden Generation 2045”.
