Indonesia Posyandu service role expansion

Overview

Indonesia is transforming its Posyandu (Integrated Healthcare Center) institutions to expand their scope beyond maternal and child health services. Following mandates such as Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation Number 13 of 2024, these community centers are being repositioned to support six Minimum Service Standards (SPM): education, health, public works, housing, social affairs, and public order and protection.

This transition involves strengthening institutional legality and administrative order to integrate Posyandu into village and sub-district governance. In practice, the Central Posyandu Integrated Service Post Supervisory Team (TP Posyandu Pusat) has begun providing assistance to community health workers and distributing medical equipment in regions like Sorong, Southwest Papua. The goal is for Posyandu to serve as a strategic link, helping residents identify basic service needs and connecting them with the appropriate regional government authorities.
