In late July 2026, Indonesia highlighted local innovation through awards in South Sulawesi’s Jeneponto district, recognizing projects that improve family data management and civil‑service delivery. At the same time, a Central Java partnership launched a “Used Cooking Oil into Rupiah” scheme to collect, digitise and convert household cooking oil into raw materials, emphasizing transparency and digital tracking.

A few days later, West Java expanded the sustainability agenda with a training session led by the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development and the provincial government. The program targeted hotels, restaurants and retailers to cut food waste, which accounts for roughly 39 % of the province’s total waste, linking waste reduction to cost savings and environmental benefits. Concurrently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted an ASEAN‑ID roadshow in Bandung, showcasing community‑based disaster‑resilience practices and promoting youth involvement in climate and disaster preparedness.

Together, these snapshots illustrate a broader rollout of provincial initiatives across Indonesia that combine waste‑management innovation, digital solutions, and community resilience training, moving from award‑recognition of pilot projects to wider training and regional cooperation within a short span of days.
