Indonesia SMK Go Global migrant worker program

Overview

The Indonesian government has launched the ‘SMK Go Global’ program, an initiative designed to prepare and certify Indonesian migrant workers for international employment. The program aims to place 500,000 workers abroad by 2029, with a target of 40,000 workers for 2026. The workforce will consist of 300,000 individuals from vocational and high school backgrounds, alongside 200,000 from the general public.

To meet international industry standards and prevent issues related to unskilled labor or human trafficking, the initiative emphasizes technical upskilling and language proficiency. Target destination countries include Japan, South Korea, Germany, Australia, and several nations across Europe, Asia, and the Maldives.

To support this ecosystem, Bank Jateng has committed to providing integrated financial services. This includes banking education, remittance services, and facilitating financing for prospective workers to strengthen the overall economic framework for the program.
