Indonesian authorities crack down on illegal alcohol

Overview

Authorities in Indonesia have conducted several enforcement operations to seize illegal alcohol and maintain public order.

In Malang Regency, the Malang Resort Police (Polres Malang) carried out ‘Operasi Cipta Kondisi’, a large-scale operation spanning 30 districts. Between August 31 and September 7, 2026, police seized 1,770 bottles of illegal alcohol. AKP M Budiono, Head of Public Relations for Polres Malang, stated the operation was a preventive measure to reduce street brawls, assaults, and accidents. Officers also provided warnings and socialization to business owners to prevent future violations.

Following these efforts, the Depok City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) conducted raids in the Cilodong, Cimanggis, and Pancoran Mas districts. Officials seized 1,972 bottles of various alcoholic beverages from six shops. Authorities reported that vendors were using deceptive tactics, operating under the guise of traditional herbal medicine (jamu) shops to hide the sale of liquor.
