Indonesian immigration service accessibility initiatives
Overview
Indonesian immigration offices have introduced various initiatives to increase the accessibility and efficiency of passport services.
Initially, offices launched specialized weekend services to celebrate Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, assisting citizens unable to visit during standard business hours. This focus on accessibility expanded with programs like ‘Pasporia’ in Pasuruan, which utilizes Car Free Day events to provide weekend services and consultations for the working class.
Additionally, efforts have been made to streamline documentation for specific groups. The Pati Immigration Office established a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to create an integrated and transparent process for prospective Hajj pilgrims preparing for the 2027 season.
In Jakarta, accessibility efforts have expanded through mall-based service locations. The South Jakarta Immigration Office operates an ‘Immigration Lounge’ at Pondok Indah Mall (PIM), providing weekend passport services and a same-day expedited processing option. Since its opening in June 2024, the PIM location has issued over one thousand passports, maintaining a daily quota of 50 applicants via the M-Paspor application to accommodate working citizens.
As of September 2026, the Immigration Lounge at PIM continues to provide these weekend services, consistently meeting its daily quota of 50 applicants for same-day processing.
