Indonesian poultry market price volatility

By August 2026, the situation shifted toward producer instability. Poultry farmers in regions such as Kendal and Makassar staged protests to address plummeting egg prices and high animal feed costs. In Makassar, farmers reported that egg prices had fallen to between Rp20,000 and Rp21,000 per kilogram, which is below the government-set reference price of Rp26,500 per kilogram. Protesters have called for government intervention to prevent bankruptcy in the small-scale poultry sector, demanding lower feed prices and an end to raw material import monopolies.
