Indonesia‑Saudi transport cooperation

In mid‑July 2026 Indonesia’s Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi met Saudi Transport and Logistics Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al‑Jasser in Jakarta. The ministers reaffirmed their bilateral transport partnership and agreed to pursue new memoranda of understanding covering safety investigations, maritime, rail and civil‑aviation technical collaboration. They also discussed expanding flight services to additional Indonesian cities and increasing scheduled Saudi flights to Jeddah and Medina, aiming to improve Hajj travel logistics and support Indonesia’s candidacy for the ICAO Council.

A week later, the Indonesian Ministry of Transport staged a large driver‑safety training programme with Grab Indonesia and the Motorbike Industry Association, reaching over 1,000 two‑wheel operators in five cities. The event was paired with the announcement of a new settlement policy for Grab transactions. The minister reiterated Saudi interest in investing in Indonesia’s maritime, aviation and rail sectors and noted that both sides would finalise the MoUs to deepen logistics connectivity and reduce travel costs for pilgrims, marking a shift from high‑level agreements to concrete implementation steps.
