Industrial and digital economy development in Karnataka
Overview
Karnataka is pursuing significant industrial and digital economy expansion through large-scale investment initiatives and administrative reforms.
In August 2026, the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) and GoodWorks Group entered a partnership to bolster the state’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem. This initiative aims to attract over ₹5,000 crore in investment and establish 50 new GCCs, with the potential to create 62,500 jobs across sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and financial services.
By September 2026, the state’s industrial focus expanded as the High-Level Clearance Committee approved 17 new projects totaling ₹29,679 crore. These projects, involving companies such as Hero Future Energies and Mahindra Aerostructures, are expected to create 66,360 jobs. Specific investments include ₹2,300 crore from Mahindra Aerostructures for aerospace manufacturing in Kolar, ₹2,195 crore from Vibrancy Renewable Energies for IT and ITES office space in Bengaluru, and ₹1,200 crore from Toyota Kirloskar Motor for a Business Intelligence Hub. Other major contributors include Hero Future Energies with ₹9,760 crore and Aequs Consumer Products with ₹1,104 crore.
To support this growth, the Chief Secretary issued a directive to fast-track construction, mandating that physical work begin within 30 days of a work order and prohibiting delays caused by traditional ceremonies like ‘Bhoomi Puja’.
