Industrial cybersecurity certification developments
Overview
The industrial automation and power management sectors have seen recent advancements in cybersecurity compliance through new certifications under the IEC 62443 standards.
CyberPower obtained the IEC 62443-4-1 certification following an independent assessment by DEKRA. This certification validates the secure product development lifecycle for power management products, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and Power Distribution Units (PDU), addressing risks such as access control and vulnerability management.
Further developments under the IEC 62443-4-2 standard include ODVA’s CIP Security receiving formal certification from TÜV Rheinland, meeting Security Level Capability 3 (SL-C 3) requirements. Additionally, Advantech’s AFE-E630 embedded edge industrial system passed a DEKRA assessment, meeting Security Level 2 (SL2) requirements. These certifications are noted as helping manufacturers navigate regulatory demands like the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
