Infrastructure and transport disruptions in Germany

Overview

Germany is experiencing widespread infrastructure disruptions due to various railway and road construction projects across multiple regions.

In the Rhine-Ruhr area, modernization at the Duisburg rail hub and large-scale bridge and track renewals in the Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Oberhausen, and Essen areas are causing service restrictions, diversions, and increased travel times. In the Mainz region, nighttime disruptions and partial cancellations on the S8 and S9 lines are expected through November.

In the Berlin region, maintenance on the A113 motorway tunnels is scheduled to cause night closures, impacting access to Berlin Brandenburg Airport and resulting in the cancellation of several Airport Express (FEX) and RB24 train services. Additional disruptions include motorway ramp closures in Thiendorf for asphalt work and various local roadworks and intersection closures throughout northern Berlin.
