Infrastructure and transport incidents in Venezuela

Overview

In the Carabobo region of Venezuela, the state government began deploying 1,500 tonnes of asphalt to repair the highway connecting the port of Puerto Cabello with La Sorpresa and El Palito. This infrastructure work follows a strong earthquake that struck the region in late June and is part of a larger reconstruction plan involving housing, health services, and electricity.

In Caracas, a separate incident occurred on the Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro Highway when a heavy cargo truck overturned near the El Ciempiés distributor in Chacao. The accident, which involved the vehicle striking a bridge structure, caused a container to spill and resulted in one motorcycle rider being injured. The incident led to the total closure of the roadway toward Petare and caused significant traffic congestion from Plaza Venezuela to San Agustín.
