Overview

Expanding on these mobility efforts, the City Council has approved a motion to request that the Diputación Provincial de Almería include the entire municipality in the route of the future Ecobulevar del Levante. Driven by the Municipal Socialist Group, the proposal seeks to extend the sustainable cycling path from its current endpoint at the Palomares gas station to include the stretch between the Palomares roundabout and the Villaricos district.

The council emphasized the need for a “global vision” to ensure regional cohesion and avoid disconnected segments. To address land classification concerns, the council stated it has provided technical documentation indicating that the land between Palomares and Villaricos is currently undergoing urbanization. Additionally, the council has agreed to provide land for a new roundabout intended to improve access to Palomares and the Fábrica del Duro beach.
