Infrastructure repairs and investigations in Chiva

Overview

Following recent rains, the Generalitat has initiated investigations and repairs on infrastructure in the Chiva region that was previously impacted by the 2024 DANA weather event.

In the Serra Perenxisa urbanization, a technical investigation was requested to determine why a bridge—reconstructed with increased hydraulic capacity for the Gallego ravine—flooded during recent rainfall. While the administration improved the bridge’s capacity, officials are examining whether municipal maintenance of gullies and debris management contributed to the issue.

Concurrently, repair and maintenance work has commenced on the CV-36 highway at the metal bridge connecting Chiva and Torrent. The intervention at kilometer point 12+220 aims to repair metal joints degraded by time to improve structural resistance against extreme weather. This work is part of a larger recovery effort following the 2024 DANA event, for which 15.7 million euros were previously allocated.
