Institutional and academic developments in Santa Catarina

The state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, is hosting various institutional, academic, and technical events.

The Santa Catarina Legislative Assembly recently held a session to honor the anniversaries of Fecomércio-SC, Sesc, and Senac. During the ceremony, Hélio Dagnoni, president of the Fecomércio-Sesc-Senac SC System, highlighted that the commerce, services, and tourism sectors represent approximately 65% of the state's GDP and are the largest employers, providing over one million direct jobs. Dagnoni also announced intentions to invest more than R$ 1 billion in infrastructure and service expansion.

In the academic and technical sectors, several summits and seminars are scheduled. The Federal Institute of Santa Catarina is set to hold its 12th Seminar on Teaching, Research, Extension, and Innovation (Sepei 2026) in Caçador, featuring robotics and programming activities. Additionally, the Federal University of Santa Maria will host the 2026 Internationalization Research Summit (InteRSummit) in November to focus on academic cooperation. In the agricultural sector, the 2nd Fraiburgo Technical Tour will convene specialists to discuss innovations in fruticulture through technical lectures and field visits.
