Internal instability in Cameroon PCRN party
Overview
The Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) has experienced significant internal instability characterized by a series of high-profile resignations and mass defections.
Initial departures included Nourane Moluh Hassana, the deputy for Wouri-Est, who cited “deep ideological divergences,” and Justin Nkakeu Aimé Ledoux, who resigned alongside approximately sixty militants from the Douala 5e region. These exits were followed by the departure of MP Nourane Fotsing and her husband, Firmin Fotsing. Many of these defectors have joined the Pacte Social pour la Gouvernance (PSG).
In response to the instability, PCRN leader Cabral Libii stated that political freedom includes the right to choose other paths. However, the party has also issued a communiqué alleging that members from the Bamiléké community in the West region are facing “ethnic threats, intimidation, and social ostracism” due to their political support. The PCRN has requested that the Cameroon Human Rights Commission investigate these claims.
