International initiatives to combat gender-based violence

Overview

Efforts to address gender-based violence and improve victim protection are expanding through international cooperation and regional institutional strengthening.

In Mexico, specialists from the Spanish National Police are conducting a 40-hour training program in Coahuila. This initiative, supported by the Spanish Embassy and local Mexican authorities, aims to improve investigations into gender, sexual, and family violence. The program includes training for 100 participants from 16 Mexican states on topics such as risk assessment and victim interviewing, while introducing tools like pictogram booklets to assist victims with communication difficulties.

In Chile, authorities are coordinating to strengthen protection mechanisms in Valparaíso and Los Ríos. In the Tarapacá region, judicial and municipal bodies are receiving training regarding the National Service for Access to Justice and the Victims' Defender. Further efforts include academic research into digital violence in Concepción and economic autonomy programs for rural women in the Maule region. Meanwhile, in Spain, professional organizations are addressing the challenges of virtual gender violence and the influence of artificial intelligence on equality.
