Interstate 70 bridge construction in Colorado
Overview
The Colorado Department of Transportation has scheduled various closures on Interstate 70 to facilitate bridge-related infrastructure projects.
In mid-September, full closures were planned for both directions of I-70 in Wheatridge to allow for “critical bridge repairs” over Kipling Street. These weekend-long closures were expected to cause delays of at least 30 minutes and required motorists to use the Kipling Street interchange as a detour.
In October, the focus shifted to the $900 million Floyd Hill Project. This phase involves overnight closures to support the construction of a cast-in-place segmental bridge. Scheduled work includes eastbound closures between Idaho Springs and Hidden Valley, as well as westbound closures at U.S. Highway 6.
