Investigation into influencer death at Helsinki clinic

Following the death of 27-year-old social media influencer Olivia Oras on September 3, Helsinki police opened a preliminary investigation into the incident. Oras reportedly lost consciousness during anesthesia while undergoing a cosmetic procedure at a private clinic and was later pronounced dead at Helsinki University Hospital. The family has requested an investigation, alleging that negligence or serious errors by clinic staff may have caused her death, leading authorities to categorize the probe as aggravated manslaughter.

Subsequent scrutiny has intensified regarding the Plastic Surgery Center where the procedure occurred. A former surgeon at the clinic criticized chief physician Karl Johan Svedjeholm, describing his conduct as “ruthless” and alleging that the facility lacked adequate safety training and emergency protocols.

Further reports indicate the clinic has been a significant subject of consumer complaints. The Competition and Consumer Authority noted that more than a quarter of all inquiries regarding plastic surgery procedures this year were directed toward the center, with six complaints filed with the Consumer Ombudsman involving issues such as failed procedures, misleading promises, and questionable billing practices.
