Investigation of Colombian family compensation funds
Overview
Colombian oversight authorities are investigating several family compensation funds (Cajas de Compensación Familiar) regarding administrative irregularities and the mismanagement of resources.
In Comfenalco Antioquia, the Ministry of Labor and the Superintendent of Family Subsidies reported plans to submit evidence to the Prosecutor General’s Office concerning alleged political control by a group known as “Telaraña Azul”. This group is accused of attempting to maintain control over funds totaling approximately one trillion pesos. While a special intervention agent suspended the organization’s General Assembly, a municipal court in Heliconia issued a ruling ordering the assembly to proceed as scheduled to elect employer representatives.
Broader investigations have expanded to include Comfaguajira, Comfamiliar Atlántico, and Comfamiliar Huila. In Comfaguajira, judicial intervention has focused on ensuring due process for electoral schedules. In Comfamiliar Huila, authorities are investigating director Juan Carlos Carvajal over delays in the Ciudadela La Felicidad housing project, which has been suspended for 21 months despite disbursements of approximately 28.3 billion pesos.
