Overview

The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) has maintained active trading across various commodity sectors. In late August, the exchange scheduled its 154th gold bullion auction, which required specific security deposits and participation from designated economic groups.

By mid-September, the IME reported high-volume physical market activity. For the week ending September 11, transactions exceeded 125.6 trillion Iranian tomans, involving approximately 3.069 million tons of goods. The National Iranian Copper Industries Company led sales value with 18 trillion tomans from sulfuric acid, copper concentrates, and molybdenum oxide. Khuzestan Steel Company and Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company also recorded significant sales. Steel and steelmaking raw materials continued to dominate market volume and value.

In the week ending September 18, activity expanded significantly within the precious metals sector. Gold and silver funds reached a combined trading value exceeding 79 trillion tomans, with gold funds accounting for 71.4 trillion tomans. Physical trades and deposit certificates for silver and gold also saw high turnover, with gold deposit certificates representing 452 kilograms of gold valued at 14,072 billion tomans.

Looking toward late September, the exchange scheduled various industrial and mineral offerings, including aluminum ingots from Aluminum Iran and Almahdi Aluminum, as well as zinc ingots from several smelters and processing companies.
